My second project at RealtimeUK leads me not only to a different brand but also to a totally different car: It’s all about the VW Beetle. The round shape is making this car sleek and sexy. This is the first famous project at RealtimeUK in which I was involved from start to finish, especially, the outdoor parts of this lovely car with its beautiful history.
Took me quite a while to understand the car: how the setup works, what kind of options there etc. Anyway, it was an interesting project and I learned a lot. There is an advantage as there was already one previous VW project done in house and setups were there. Nevertheless, it required a lot of work in comp to stay flexible. After a render marathon for all the single pieces, a complicated node system controlled the assets. This heavy load of nodes and expressions make the workflow a bit slower than usual but again and again, it’s worth the quality and flexibility.
