Golden Watch (Maurice Lacroix)
This was more for a pitch to demonstrate our skills than a real project although it looks perfect as a final commercial, done for a lot of money. Since we speak about quality: The quality of the animation must be as high as the product itself to keep up with the glamorous and precious look of the brand: it’s all about photorealism. Anyway, the goal isn’t only to introduce a product but also a mood and an eternal feeling of a precious product in the luxury segment.
In terms of technical challenges, I’m proud of my look development and lighting. Chamfering the objects and preparing the textures took a lot of time but most of the time went into the lighting since it needed to be very mystic. Another challenge was on soft surface: I sculpted the leather wristband since I never used ZBrush before but it was quite fun. After the watch was prepared, it had to be rendered: since it’s rendered unbiased with an early version of Fryrender, the rendering time was very long until the noise was minimized.
